Call me vulnerable.

Hot Hot Heat - Move On
Hot Hot Heat - Goodnight, Goodnight

Hot Hot Heat are a strange band. For a group whose best attribute is their insane catchiness, I find it really weird that I actively dislike almost every song of theirs the first time I hear it. I remember buying Make up the Breakdown last year, after hearing that it was a fantastic slice of Costello-meets-Dexy's pop, putting it on, and being just blown away at how awful it was. The singer's all yelpy! The lyrics are horrible! But then, after listening to it some more out of a sense of duty, it slowly wrapped its sticky tentacles around my brain, inducing the need for more. And more! AND MORE!

And more.

I had a similar encounter with these two songs. It's almost comical that I have to go through this process of revulsion, then mere indifference, then singing the songs in the shower with each new HHH track. As is peculiar to this band, the choruses really aren't that great--HHH is primarily a great verse-writing band. Nonetheless, I heartily recommend that you keep listening to these tracks, even if you don't like them at first. They sort of rule.

I'm not naming any names.

worker gabe, originally uploaded by hokiewalrus.

I'm not saying this comic pertains to anyone we know per se, but I think it's safe to assume we all know someone like this.

There's nothing quite like watching someone that thinks they are handy try to work.

It seems like Gooblar and I are keeping this blog going lately, and all I do is post Penny Arcade and Goobs links to weird news articles and other trivia. Come on guys, my flickr bandwidth is gonna run out soon!
