I had a strange dream last night--I dreamt that Yohei posted an angry rant on the blog decrying 'magnetic poetry.' Weird.

The Halo Benders - Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want

OK, OK, so you don't care too much for the whole "Please, Please, Please.." concept week I've been doing. Yes, there's egg on my face, but my momma always told me to finish what I start, so I'd better.

This is a great cover--it sounds almost comically bad at first listen, especially compared with the beauty of the original. But with time, it grows on you. The Halo Benders, as I just found out, were the side project of Doug Martsch from Built to Spill and Calvin Johnson, he of Beat Happening and K Records (sort of) fame. It's a very funny record--pay special attention to Johnson's deep-voiced ad-libbing in the right speaker.

I advise all of you (especially Paul) to rent, or netflix, or however it is you get movies, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, and pay special attention to the music played during the poignant scene in the Art Institute of Chicago. Fucking brilliant.

Poodles.

Warning: I tried watching this while eating my cereal and ended up spitting milk all over my keyboard. I literally cannot watch the whole of this now, as K's sleeping in the next room, and I can't stop giggling like a schoolgirl.

The Dream Academy - Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want

I heard this instrumental version years before ever hearing the Smiths' original, and I am certain all of you did as well. How am I certain? It was used to great effect in an important scene in a movie we have all seen. Your task: what movie? what scene? Googlers need not apply; this is strictly for the rememberer in you.
