Take me to the Rivers
Rivers Cuomo's 'Personal Statement' for Harvard:
I gave away or sold most of my possessions, my house, and my car and lived in an empty apartment next to Rick Rubin’s house for the rest of the year.
No one I think is in my tree.

I don't know how I feel about post-Pinkerton Rivers (it must've been tough to remain his friend during his business mogul phase), but it's a really interesting personal statement. It helps when you can mention your album that sold 2 million copies.
I must point out though that the typical 'personal statement' -- usually detailing adversity/challenge, goals, epiphany -- are all considered within the cult of the Romantic, the personal growth narrative of Romanticism. Wow, I'm a huge loser.
Not as big as Rivers!
